"Spare the rod, spoil the child" Africans really seem to dig this this particular passage from The Holy Bible, At least in my house we did. My Mum, whom I love to pieces by the way, used to keep different levels of "koboko" In fact it got to a point my siblings and I nicknamed her The Slapping Machine, she sure knows how to slap you till you are sober and the funny thing is with each beating came that particular verse of The Holy Book and... "I am only bringing you up in the right way, If I don't beat you now life will beat you in the future...Next time you want to misbehave you will think of this scar and change your mind" But really, how true is this? Do you have to scar a child for life to teach him the right thing ? Does beating really have that much effect on kids ? Does it deter anyone from stealing that meat from the pot or checking your mummy's purse for some change? I for one wasn't deterred.
On the other hand, This Bible passage don't apply to some, especially the westerners or people who are trying to westernize their ways. They don't even smack ! they give time-outs lol or Ground the child. Taaaa ! I once witnessed an encounter, My neighbor was s'posed to go for a wedding with her kids this woman had been begging them all day to get ready and stuff but they were playing around she started screaming and her second child, a boy, 15 0r thereabout told her to chill out and stop embarrassing herself, I swear down I was expecting her to go "what" and throw some tantrums she just went solo and begged them to please get ready. I trust my mum though, London police or not she would have slapped me ni. I see kids here telling there mums or dads to shut up and they actually stop talking. white folks cool na their way be that but as a Nigerian, your kid tells you to shut up and you do? oh bloody well *lips sealed*
I really don't know which way works best to beat or not to beat ? I see some scars on my arms and back and they make me angry that I was beaten but I think I'd rather my mum beats my life out than telling her to shut up or stop embarrassing herself .....'Nuff said -_-

The Music Of The world Vs The Music Of The Lord
Okay, Sunday morning I was getting ready for church and my phone vibrated in my purse I had received a message from a mate of mine. the first thing that came to mind was to delete it straight up. Why, you wonder? She stays sending BCs like Crazy. This particular BC caught my eyes though, 'twas about Lady Gaga's Alejandro and how singing it makes you just as much a sinner as Lady Gaga herself...I was puzzled. As a child yea, I grew up listening to songs from a walks of life, My Mum happens to be a minister in her Church but she didn't for once encourage or discourage any genre of music (sometimes, she sings along to the ol'skool numbers sef ) We were just taught to balance and filter everything we watch and digest.
I believe as a true christian, Muslim or believer of God its all about your mindset what you listen to or watch doesn't make or mar your journey to heaven, don't get me wrong though I am not pro secular music, honestly, I am on the fence I can't be bothered about the genre of a song as long as it is good music. But I still think a man should not be judged based on what he listens to 'cause if that was the case then only people that listen to "God kind of music" will make heaven then? pfft bollocks ! It is the HEART not the MUSIC people. Don't
deprive yourselves of good music.. Worship God with a true heart and you will make heaven, Simples !

Case Of The Ex
Bimbo and Demola had broken off their two year relationship almost immediately after they graduated. It had been hell for both of them especially Bimbo, who nursed her broken heart for months. She eventually got over the ache and things moved on. A year after, she met Nick. A young, handsome, hot guy who had been in the same school with her and who was also her ex, demola's very close friend. Nick and Bimbo became really close and somewhere along the line, they felt more than friendship for each other. Bimbo was sure she hadn't felt this way since Demola and Nick just wanted to be with this woman but Demola would hear none of it. His ex and his friend? Hell no!
Amaka and Moyo had been exes for 3years. And Amaka had moved on and was even engaged to be married. Her friend Onye who they'd been friends for years and who had settled a lot of disputes between her and Moyo was in love with Moyo. Amaka raised hell when she found out and promised to murder them both if they ever got together. Onye is confused, she wonders what her friend would do if she found out how many times she'd shared Moyo's bed.
We all wonder if its cool to date our friends' exes or not (at least i know I do) but is this morally right? Would I like it if my friend is gettin' some from my ex? And err really...were you coveting your friend's 'padner' while they were still together? If your friend is angry 'cause you are getting it from his or her ex does it mean he/she still has feelings for the ex or pure hate and expects you as a loyal friend to share in the hatred? This has been one of the most controversial situations for years. Can I date my ex's friend? Is it right? Tell me what do you think?
